  • Hervey Bay Hospital

    Osoite:
Nissen Street & Urraween Rd, Pialba QLD 4655 .

Hervey Bay Hospital provides a broad range of acute services to the Fraser Coast community.

The paediatric unit has been expanded from eight to 10 beds to meet the increasing demand for paediatric services. The refurbishment also included an enclosed play area, treatment and storage rooms, office and multipurpose rooms for family meetings.

Refurbishment of the renal unit has improved the accommodation for patients receiving dialysis at the hospital. The unit provides 10 stations for dialysis and an additional three stations for preparing those patients who will self-administer dialysis in their own home—currently 39 per cent of patient receiving dialysis are now home based.

Hospital in the Home was initially funded from the community dividend. Planning is underway to expand the service in the 2014-15 financial year to allow eligible patients to be treated in the home.

The patient transport service provides patient transfers between the Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals—reducing reliance on the Queensland Ambulance Service for non-urgent diagnostic appointments.

Funding of $17.29 million has been allocated to the hospital for a new oral health facility and cancer care facility.
